JR De Guzman

Born in the Philippines and raised in California, JR De Guzman began performing comedy while working as a music teacher—an experience he jokes mainly involved teaching Taylor Swift songs to teenagers. Blending stand-up with musical comedy, JR quickly developed a unique voice that combines sharp jokes, heartfelt storytelling, and original songs drawn from real-life experiences. He has performed internationally, entertaining audiences around the world with appearances at Stand-Up Tokyo and ROR Comedy in Japan, the Jokers Ball in Indonesia, the Badaboom Comedy Series in Amsterdam, and numerous other global comedy showcases. JR was the winner of Stand-Up NBC in 2016, named a prestigious “New Face” at Just for Laughs in 2017, and later recognized as one of Variety’s Ten Comics to Watch in 2022. In 2025, Billboard named him one of its Top 10 Musical Comics.
